Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000), who studied at the Fine Arts School of Vienna, is above all an artist who has realized his constructions in painting as well as architecture. The desire for a natural space in which to live led him to experiment with forms and colors that would recreate a childlike world of dreams. But his theoretical proposals and manifests go even further than his actual creations: in these, he defended such innovative ideas as the rooftop covered in vegetation, the right to a window, and the creativity of every inhabitant. His ideals were given form in important pieces such as the Kunst-HausWien, the Church of St. Barbara, and the Hundertwasser House.
